01. The Parable of the Persistent Widow
Tim Fulkerson | 1.8.23
Luke 18:1–8
Have you ever had to wait for God to answer a specific prayer? Jesus tells us some important lessons in these types of situations. In the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus reminds us to not lose heart in our asking. If we pray according to God’s will, we must be confident He has heard us. God is not like an unrighteous judge, but He always answers us in the right way at the right time. Therefore, let us not lose hope!
02. The Parable of the Pharisee & the Tax Collector
Tim Fulkerson | 1.15.23
Luke 18:9–14
Pride can effectively destroy our relationship with God and others, and it can also hinder our prayers. Jesus illustrates to us in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector that God condemns self-righteousness and commends humility. The humble thief was made right with God, not the Bible expert. May each of us learn how to approach God with humble and grateful hearts.
03. The Parable of the Friend at Midnight
Tim Fulkerson | 1.22.23
Luke 11:5–13
All of us have needs in our lives that we desire God to meet. As we look to the parable of the “friend at midnight,” we will learn some important lessons on what it means to prevail in our prayers. As Christians, God is our greatest Friend and Father, therefore He will give to those of us who ask, seek, and knock accordingly. He will not only answer rightly, but also pour out His Holy Spirit in our lives!
04. The Parable of the Two Foundations
Pat Dorbin | 2.5.23
Matthew 7:24–29
05. The Parable of the Ten Mines
Tim Fulkerson | 2.12.23
Luke 19:11-27
All of us long for significance, as we all want to make our lives count for something. However, not all of us are invested in God’s Kingdom as we should be. Jesus reminds us in The Parable of the Ten Minas, that as His servants, we must learn to be fully faithful with what He has given us. We learn from this parable that God rewards faithfulness. Let us learn how to invest our lives into the priorities of heaven!
06. The Parable of the Prodigal Son(s)
Tim Fulkerson | 2.19.23
Luke 15:11-32
The parable of the Prodigal Son is perhaps one of the most famous of Jesus’ parables. While many of us are familiar with this story, there is a lot more to this parable than we may realize. Essentially there are two prodigal sons in this story. It may be spiritually more dangerous for us to be an older brother type than a younger brother type. God invites each of us to understand His heart and celebrate the joys of being “home” with Him!
07. The Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard
Tim Fulkerson | 2.26.23
Matthew 20:1-16
One of the most provocative parables that Jesus shared with the story of the laborers in the vineyard. Through this parable Jesus instructed his disciples on what God and Heaven are like. One the surface it may appear that God is unfair in His dealings with humankind, however, God is generous in His grace. Like our Heavenly Father, we must look at people with compassion, not resentment. We love people more than they deserve.
08. The Parable of the Rich Man
Tim Fulkerson | 3.5.23
Luke 12:13–21
A fool is a person who only lives for here and now and does not make an investment into eternity. We learn from Jesus’ parable of the rich man that we must plan for the future with God and His kingdom in mind. Our lives are not our own and at any moment God may call us into account, therefore we must ultimately make our investment into eternity and not earth. Let us not follow the rich man on the pathway of foolishness!
09. The Parable of the Good Samaritan
Tim Fulkerson | 3.12.23
Luke 10:25–37
Jesus calls us as Christians to love our neighbors. As we examine the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we can see that we must be willing to graciously show love and mercy towards others in need. Because Christ has come to our rescue, we too must be willing to be His hands and feet to reach out to a lost and dying world.
10. The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant
Tim Fulkerson | 3.19.23
Matthew 18:21–35
Jesus reveals to us in the parable of the Unmerciful Servant that God’s mercy is not given to those who do not forgive others! If God has forgiven us through Christ Jesus, we have a duty and obligation to genuinely forgive others. While it may be naturally impossible for us to forgive, as we look to the cross of Christ, God will give us the supernatural grace to show love and forgiveness to others.
11. The Parable of the Tenants
Tim Fulkerson | 3.26.23
Mark 12:1–12
As Jesus enters Jerusalem he shares a parable that not only interprets the history of Israel, but also predicts the future. The Parable of the Tenants reveals that God is calling each of us to repent of sin and selfishness, because rebellion against God is a serious thing! We must look to Jesus, our Cornerstone, as our only hope of salvation and true spiritual fruitfulness!
12. The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
Tim Fulkerson | 4.2.23
Luke 13:6–9
As we examine the parable of the Barren Fig Tree, we can see God’s coming judgement upon Israel for its spiritual barrenness. However, through Christ Jesus, they were given one generation to repent. Likewise as Christians, our call is to spiritual fruitfulness. Our aim must be complete obedience to Christ!
